How SilJa Rebuilt Its WooCommerce Store and Integrated It With Tildes Jumis

SilJa already had an eCommerce website, but it was in poor technical condition and suffered from multiple problems, including significant website-speed issues. The project objective was to replace the problematic legacy eCommerce website with a modern, faster and more maintainable WooCommerce platform capable of supporting SilJa's broad B2C and B2B catalogue while working with its existing business systems.

The Challenge

The Starting Point

SilJa already had an eCommerce website, but it was in poor technical condition and suffered from multiple problems, including significant website-speed issues. The existing setup had reached a point where continuously patching individual problems was no longer the strongest long-term approach.

What the Client Believed Was Wrong

The immediate need was help with an existing eCommerce website suffering from technical and performance problems. As WD Market assessed the situation, the challenge became broader: SilJa needed a stronger technical foundation rather than another series of temporary fixes.

What Had Already Been Tried

SilJa already had an operating eCommerce presence, but the existing implementation suffered from significant technical and performance issues. Continuing to maintain the legacy setup remained an option, but WD Market determined that rebuilding would provide a substantially stronger foundation.

Why It Needed Attention

The condition and performance of the existing website were creating enough problems that SilJa approached WD Market for help. The project could also be structured through the LIAA financing programme, enabling SilJa to make a larger investment in rebuilding its eCommerce infrastructure.

Risk of Doing Nothing

SilJa would remain dependent on a technically problematic and slow eCommerce platform, requiring continued reactive fixes while limiting the company’s ability to reliably develop and optimize its online sales channel.

Constraints That Shaped the Solution

The new platform needed to accommodate a broad catalogue spanning agricultural machinery, spare parts, garden equipment and technical products, serve both B2C and B2B customers, and work with SilJa’s existing Tildes Jumis setup.

What Success Needed to Mean

Replace the problematic previous store with a substantially stronger and more modern eCommerce foundation that could be maintained, developed and improved over time while supporting the company’s existing operational systems.

Our Approach

  • What the Evidence Showed

The existing website’s problems were substantial enough that further patching would not provide the best long-term outcome. The business needed a new technical foundation capable of supporting a large technical-product catalogue and future eCommerce development.

  • What We Prioritized First

Technical foundation and platform reliability. Before focusing heavily on CRO or growth initiatives, SilJa needed an eCommerce platform that could reliably support its catalogue, integrations and future development.

  • How We Delivered It

Rather than continuously fixing the legacy website, WD Market proposed and developed a new WooCommerce eCommerce platform. The new solution was designed to provide a substantially stronger technical foundation while continuing to work with SilJa’s existing Tildes Jumis environment. WD Market subsequently became SilJa’s primary external WooCommerce and technical eCommerce partner.

  • How the Engagement Evolved

What began as a request for help with an existing problematic website evolved into a complete WooCommerce rebuild. After delivery, WD Market’s role expanded from project developer into SilJa’s primary external WooCommerce and technical eCommerce partner.

Strategy

Strategic Decisions

  • WD Market developers reviewing code

    Recommendation

SilJa initially approached WD Market for help with its existing eCommerce website. After assessing its condition, WD Market recommended moving beyond incremental fixes and developing a new WooCommerce platform.

What We Deliberately Did Not Recommend

We did not recommend indefinitely patching the problematic legacy website. The technical condition and performance issues justified investing in a stronger underlying eCommerce foundation.

Rebuild / Redesign / Spend Decision

This is a case where we recommended rebuilding. Unlike clients whose existing platform could economically be repaired, SilJa’s technical situation justified replacing the previous eCommerce setup with a new WooCommerce implementation.

Results We Delivered

  • Measured Results

New WooCommerce eCommerce platform successfully delivered, replacing the technically problematic previous website and establishing a modern foundation integrated with SilJa’s existing Tildes Jumis setup.

  • Evidence and Metrics

The verified pre-project evidence is primarily technical: the previous website had significant technical and website-speed problems.

  • What the Client Gained Beyond the Metric

SilJa gained a modern eCommerce foundation and a long-term external technical partner rather than continuing to depend on a problematic legacy implementation. The platform can now support ongoing WooCommerce development, technical improvements and future optimization initiatives.
