The Challenge
The Starting Point
Amalgam Captures was attempting to migrate its established digital eCommerce business from Wix to WooCommerce with another development partner. The project had run into significant technical problems, delays and communication issues, leaving the migration incomplete and putting the new store launch at risk.
What Had Already Been Tried
Another development agency had already been hired to migrate the business from Wix to WooCommerce. Significant work had been completed, but technical and delivery problems prevented the project from reaching a reliable production launch.
Why It Needed Attention
Initially, the immediate problem was getting an already-started migration successfully completed and published. The client needed a technically capable partner who could step into an existing project, resolve outstanding issues and get the new WooCommerce store live.
Risk of Doing Nothing
Confidence in the previous development partner had deteriorated and the migration could no longer remain unfinished. The business needed a reliable partner to take ownership of the project and protect the continuity of an established global eCommerce operation.
Constraints That Shaped the Solution
WD Market inherited an existing migration rather than starting with a clean build. The team had to understand another developer’s implementation, preserve customer and historical order data, correctly configure WooCommerce, implement redirects and resolve unexpected production issues under significant launch pressure.
What Success Needed to Mean
First, get the new WooCommerce store live and stable without compromising the existing business. After launch, success shifted toward creating a faster, more measurable and continuously improving eCommerce operation capable of supporting ambitious growth.
Our Approach
-
What the Evidence Showed
The migration itself was only the first problem. Once the store was live, there were multiple opportunities across UX, technical performance, SEO, checkout, product discovery, analytics and retention. The business also lacked sufficient visibility into how customers moved through the purchasing funnel across traffic sources, devices and markets.
-
What We Prioritized First
Launch stability and business continuity came first. Customer accounts, historical orders, SEO redirects, checkout functionality and the production environment had to work correctly before investing heavily in optimization. Once that foundation was stable, the focus shifted toward measurement, CRO and growth.
-
How We Delivered It
WD Market first took ownership of the failed migration and production launch. This included WooCommerce publishing, customer-account migration, historical-order migration, SEO redirects, WooCommerce configuration and launch stabilization. After launch, the engagement moved into continuous development: UX improvements, CRO, technical optimization, SEO improvements, analytics, maintenance and email automation.
-
How the Engagement Evolved
What began as support for publishing an existing migration evolved into WD Market taking ownership of the launch and becoming Amalgam Captures’ long-term eCommerce partner. After stabilization, the relationship expanded into continuous development, CRO, advanced analytics, maintenance and lifecycle email marketing.

Strategic Decisions
-
Recommendation
The scope changed after technical assessment. WD Market was initially brought in to help complete the publishing process. After reviewing the project, it became clear that the existing developer could not reliably complete the migration, so WD Market recommended taking full ownership of the remaining migration and launch instead of attempting to work around an unstable delivery process.
-
What We Deliberately Did Not Recommend
We did not recommend abandoning the migration and starting the entire project again from zero. Wherever possible, WD Market preserved usable existing work and focused resources on resolving the critical issues required to launch and stabilize the business.
-
Rebuild / Redesign / Spend Decision
The immediate priority was business continuity and a successful WooCommerce launch. Broader UX, CRO, analytics and feature improvements could then be implemented incrementally based on business value and evidence.
Results We Delivered
-
Measured Results
Client-reported sales baseline approximately +20–30% compared with the previous website. In addition, the migration was successfully completed and the WooCommerce store stabilized, creating the technical and analytics foundation required for continued optimization.
-
Evidence and Metrics
Following the migration and subsequent optimization work, the client reported that the sales baseline is approximately 20–30% higher compared with the previous website. WD Market has also implemented deeper funnel analytics covering customer flow, Add-to-Cart, cart progression, Reached Checkout, Conversion Rate, returning customers and CLTV segmentation.
-
What the Client Gained Beyond the Metric
Amalgam Captures gained a dependable long-term eCommerce development partner and significantly greater visibility into its business. Instead of operating with surface-level sales data, the company can increasingly understand the complete purchase funnel, customer behavior, returning-customer contribution and CLTV — while continuously improving the store based on evidence.

- Rescued Wix → WooCommerce migration Customer accounts, historical orders and SEO redirects preserved.
