How Profcentrs Turned an Informational Website Into a WooCommerce Platform Integrated With Horizon ERP
Profcentrs primarily had an informational website, while sales were centered around its physical stores and established B2B/professional customer base. eCommerce had not yet become a meaningful sales channel. The project objective was to create a functional eCommerce channel; digitalise online purchasing; connect WooCommerce with Horizon ERP; reduce manual administration; make the company's broad technical catalogue accessible online; support both B2C and legal-entity purchases; and establish a technical foundation from which eCommerce could potentially become a larger part of the overall business.

The Challenge
The Starting Point
Profcentrs primarily had an informational website, while sales were centered around its physical stores and established B2B/professional customer base. eCommerce had not yet become a meaningful sales channel. The company approached WD Market to develop eCommerce as an additional commercial channel.
What the Client Believed Was Wrong
Profcentrs needed to move beyond an informational website and create a functional eCommerce sales channel. The business already had a substantial offline operation and broad product catalogue, but customers needed the ability to discover and purchase products digitally while eCommerce needed to connect with the company’s existing operational systems.
What Had Already Been Tried
The company already had an informational online presence and an established offline business built around physical stores and B2B/professional customers, but it did not yet have the eCommerce infrastructure required to make online sales a meaningful part of the business.
Why It Needed Attention
Profcentrs wanted to begin developing eCommerce as an additional sales channel, and the project could be implemented through an EU / LIAA financing programme. This created the opportunity to digitalise an established offline/B2B business and connect eCommerce with its existing infrastructure.
Risk of Doing Nothing
Profcentrs would remain heavily dependent on its established physical-store and B2B channels without developing eCommerce as an additional source of revenue. Operationally, the business would also miss the opportunity to automate data exchange between online orders and Horizon ERP.
Constraints That Shaped the Solution
Profcentrs has a large and technically diverse product catalogue, requiring strong filtering and structured product data. eCommerce also needs to work with Horizon ERP, multiple delivery rules, B2C and B2B/legal-entity purchasing, and different product characteristics. In addition, the company currently operates in a difficult industry environment, making management cautious about investments without measurable commercial impact.
What Success Needed to Mean
Initially, success meant launching a functional eCommerce platform integrated with the company’s operational infrastructure. For the next stage, success needs to mean something more commercial: proving that eCommerce can become a meaningful and measurable sales channel rather than simply maintaining a technically functional website.
Our Approach
-
What the Evidence Showed
The primary issue is no longer simply technical. Profcentrs already has a functioning WooCommerce store and Horizon integration. The strategic question is whether eCommerce can become commercially meaningful. Future work therefore needs to identify whether the principal bottleneck is traffic, product demand, pricing, usability, B2B buying behaviour, assortment, marketing or conversion before recommending additional investment.
-
What We Prioritized First
Technical eCommerce infrastructure and operational integration. Before focusing on growth, Profcentrs needed a functioning eCommerce platform capable of handling its catalogue, payments, delivery and customer journey while integrating with Horizon ERP. This created the foundation required for future commercial optimization.
-
How We Delivered It
WD Market developed the new eCommerce platform using WordPress + WooCommerce + WoodMart, including the homepage, shop, product pages and supporting eCommerce pages. Product filtering was implemented for category, price, promotions, availability, manufacturer, volume and colour. Payments include MakeCommerce and invoice payments, while delivery supports Omniva and weight-based courier logic.
-
How the Engagement Evolved
The engagement has moved from platform development to a potential eCommerce-growth phase. The initial technical project is complete. The question now is no longer how to build the store, but how—or whether—to make eCommerce commercially significant enough to justify continued investment.
The People Behind The Work
Project management, UX/UI, WooCommerce development, frontend/backend development, Horizon ERP integration, QA/testing and technical implementation. Valdis currently leads the WD Market-side relationship and is actively discussing the next stage with Profcentrs management.
Strategic Decisions
-
Recommendation
The original requirement to transform the informational website into an eCommerce platform integrated with the existing business infrastructure was aligned with the underlying business need.
-
What We Deliberately Did Not Recommend
We prioritised recommendations based on their potential commercial value rather than proposing additional services without a clear business rationale. Any next steps involving CRO, GEO or new functionality should be guided by defined commercial objectives, established performance baselines, identified bottlenecks and a clear measurement framework.
-
Rebuild / Redesign / Spend Decision
For the current growth stage the recommendation is not to increase investment blindly. Profcentrs already has the core technical infrastructure, so additional spend needs to be connected to a credible hypothesis for traffic, conversion and commercial return.
Results We Delivered
-
Measured Results
Successful launch of a complete eCommerce infrastructure integrated with Horizon ERP. The integration automates product and stock information flowing into WooCommerce and eCommerce order information flowing back into Horizon, reducing manual administration between the systems.
-
Evidence and Metrics
The technical foundation is live and operational. The company itself is substantially larger than its eCommerce channel, meaning there is significant potential if a commercially viable online-growth model can be established. Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity are already implemented to provide the foundation for future measurement and customer-behaviour analysis.
-
What the Client Gained Beyond the Metric
Profcentrs gained a complete digital commerce foundation: WooCommerce eCommerce platform + Horizon ERP integration + payments + delivery logic + analytics + product filtering + B2C/B2B purchasing capabilities. This gives the business the infrastructure required to test whether eCommerce can develop into a strategically meaningful channel.
