How Mikroklimats Rebuilt Its eCommerce Platform for Complex HVAC Product Discovery and Enquiries
Mikroklimats operated an old and outdated website that was technically outdated, insufficiently SEO-friendly, affected by bugs, difficult for the client to manage independently, limited from an eCommerce perspective and unable to provide the customer experience expected from a modern HVAC eCommerce business. The project objective was to replace the outdated website with a modern eCommerce platform; make technical products easier to discover and compare; support direct purchases and product enquiries; improve the customer experience; give the business a more manageable platform; and establish a stronger digital foundation for future eCommerce growth.
- New eCommerce platform launched 14 August 2026
- Advanced technical product filtering
- Direct-purchase and product-enquiry journeys

The Challenge
The Starting Point
Mikroklimats operated an old and outdated website that was technically outdated, insufficiently SEO-friendly, affected by bugs, difficult for the client to manage independently, limited from an eCommerce perspective and unable to provide the customer experience expected from a modern HVAC eCommerce business.
What the Client Believed Was Wrong
The existing website had become a technical and commercial limitation. It was difficult to manage, suffered from bugs and did not make it easy enough for customers to discover, compare, enquire about and purchase technically complex HVAC products.
What Had Already Been Tried
Mikroklimats had been operating its existing website before the redevelopment.
Why It Needed Attention
The existing platform had reached the point where incremental fixes were no longer enough. Mikroklimats needed a modern eCommerce foundation capable of supporting both direct online sales and the consultation-led nature of HVAC purchasing. The company found WD Market through Google and began the cooperation around late summer 2024.
Risk of Doing Nothing
Mikroklimats would remain dependent on an outdated and difficult-to-manage website while customers continued encountering friction when researching technically complex HVAC products. This would limit eCommerce development and make it harder for the website to support both direct sales and qualified enquiries.
Constraints That Shaped the Solution
HVAC is a technically complex, high-consideration category. Customers often need to compare energy efficiency, heating/cooling characteristics, installation requirements and other technical parameters. Some customers can purchase directly, while others require consultation, installation advice or technical clarification before buying.
What Success Needed to Mean
A modern, reliable website where customers can find the correct product more easily, understand technical differences, purchase directly when ready or contact Mikroklimats when professional consultation is required. The platform also needed to be easier for the business itself to manage.
Our Approach
-
What the Evidence Showed
Standard eCommerce functionality alone was not enough for this category. HVAC customers need help narrowing a technically complex catalogue. Product discovery therefore had to account for specifications such as manufacturer, installation characteristics, cooling class, heating class, energy efficiency and product-specific technical parameters. The second important finding was that not every customer journey should end immediately in checkout—some should lead to a qualified enquiry.
-
What We Prioritized First
Product discovery and the core purchasing journey. With a technically complex HVAC catalogue, customers first need to find products matching their requirements. Advanced filtering and clear technical information were therefore prioritized before broader optimization initiatives.
-
How We Delivered It
WD Market developed a completely new WordPress + WooCommerce store. A major focus was advanced product filtering that allows customers to narrow products according to technical requirements. WD Market also implemented energy-efficiency badges/labels and created parallel customer journeys for direct eCommerce purchase and product enquiry.
-
How the Engagement Evolved
The engagement has now moved from website development → post-launch eCommerce development. With the website live, the next phase should increasingly rely on real customer behaviour rather than assumptions made during development. Analytics, customer feedback, filter usage, enquiry behaviour and purchasing data can now determine which improvements should be prioritized.
The People Behind The Work
WD Market eCommerce strategy/project management, UX/UI, WooCommerce development, frontend/backend development, technical product-filtering implementation, QA/testing and launch support. Romāns Jakovļevs, Owner of Mikroklimats, is the primary client contact and final decision maker.
Strategic Decisions
-
Recommendation
Replacing the outdated website was recommended because the existing platform had fundamental technical, usability and eCommerce limitations.
-
What We Deliberately Did Not Recommend
We did not simplify the website into a generic eCommerce catalogue that assumes customers already know exactly which HVAC product they need. The solution retained the technical depth required by the category and provided an enquiry route for customers who require consultation before purchasing.
-
Rebuild / Redesign / Spend Decision
A rebuild was justified by the condition of the previous platform, with the recommendation focused on addressing existing technical limitations and establishing a more reliable foundation for future eCommerce development.
Results We Delivered
-

What the Client Gained Beyond the Metric
Mikroklimats gained a significantly stronger digital sales foundation. The website now functions simultaneously as an eCommerce store, technical product catalogue and lead-generation platform, allowing it to support both customers ready to purchase and customers who require professional advice before making an HVAC investment.
